BA MUSIC

BA EDUCATION

Kris is a dedicated musician, educator, and multi-instrumentalist with a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Tarleton State University and a diverse background in musical performance, musicianship, and instruction. His extensive experience across multiple instruments and musical disciplines has given him a comprehensive understanding of music and a versatile approach to teaching students of varying ages, experience levels, and musical goals. His primary areas of performance and professional experience are French horn, trumpet, percussion, and jazz piano. Through these disciplines, I have developed a strong foundation in instrumental technique, music theory, ear training, improvisation, rhythm, ensemble performance, and musical interpretation. He is also proficient across a broad range of additional instruments, including piano and keyboard, trombone, baritone/euphonium, tuba, saxophone, clarinet, and flute. As a multi-instrumentalist, He will bring a unique perspective to private instruction. Understanding how different instruments function individually and within an
ensemble allows him to provide students with a more comprehensive musical education. Rather than focusing solely on playing notes correctly, I strive to help students understand why music works, how to listen critically, how to develop effective practice habits, and how to become
confident and independent musicians.
His teaching philosophy centers on meeting each student where they are and building instruction around their individual goals and interests. Whether a student is picking up an instrument for the first time, preparing for a school ensemble or audition, developing advanced performance skills, exploring jazz and improvisation, or pursuing a deeper understanding of
music theory, He will provide structured, encouraging, and engaging instruction. He believes that successful music education should develop both technical proficiency and
musical expression. His goal as an instructor is to give students the tools, knowledge, and confidence they need to grow as musicians while helping them discover the enjoyment and
fulfillment that come from making music.
